PERSONALITY: Mamoru can appear very mysterious and a little bit brash to those who don't know him. He's usually not very talkative or social, unless he's in familiar company. It takes time to gain his trust and have him open up to someone. This is mostly due to losing his parents and memories of childhood when he was only six years old. Having no idea of who he was, other than his name, he had trouble on connecting to others on deeper level. How can you get to know someone when you don't even know yourself? As his memories of his past life return, he starts opening up to his friends more and forms deep friendships and even deeper love.
The love story between Usagi and Mamoru is one that travels through different lifetimes. They're the reincarnations of forbidden lovers, Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion. Through this link to their past, they were destined to meet and fall in love again. Mamoru felt attracted to Usagi even before knowing who they were. He loves Usagi for who she is, he also loves Sailor Moon and the past and the future of her. His love for her goes through multiple layers and gives him power to go on.
Loving Usagi has made him appear more gentle and calm. The aura of mystery is easily brought down by the presence of her and her friends. He's gotten very close to the whole group of senshis, helping them out in various ways (combat, information, strategies). In general, Mamoru is a very supportive and kind person who's always looking out for others. The kind of support he gives isn't filled with cheesy lines, but the true feelings he has inside for the moment. He's definitely not the cheesy boyfriend type, even if he sometimes can get a bit dorky and awkward.
With how connected he is to Usagi, he gets easily jealous of other men approaching her to flirt with her. While he doesn't get violent on his feelings he does get defensive and hold Usagi closer to him. Depending on how affected Usagi is, he gets a little uncertain and things can get easily awkward between them - but usually they're able to talk everything out. Even if they might not talk to each other for some reason for the longest while (or what feels like a long time) they're able to make up for either or both being silly about something.
Mamoru is also very responsible and holds onto his promises no matter what. If he's sworn to protect someone he will not back down and will go the extra mile for them. This is easily seen when he promises King Endymion (his future self) to take care of Chibiusa (his future daughter) and he willingly dove into a time storm to look for her. His feelings were even stronger at that time because Chibiusa is the daughter of him and Usagi, so she's someone precious he can't and won't lose.
His sense of responsibility can sometimes become a double-edged sword. He often worries he's not powerful enough to protect anyone and anytime something happens to Usagi or the other senshi, he's blaming himself for letting that happen. Sometimes being unable to protect makes him close himself up temporarily to reflect on his life and what it is he can do.
To say he's a genius is not wrong. Mamoru is very intelligent and goes to a school that's reserved for the elite. He also excels in almost every sport. It's no wonder there have been times he's realized something long before anyone else even had a clue.
Unfortunately, it seems Mamoru is very weak to his mind being controlled by others. Several times during the series he's been somehow brainwashed into being the enemy. Every time he's been able to recover thanks to Sailor Moon, but somehow it ends up happening all over again.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Mamoru has an unique ability loosely called psychometry. He is able to use it even in his civilian form. Psychometry lets him read events of the future, present and past, as well as see what others dream through his touch. He also has the ability to heal, as well as monitor earth's condition by touching the ground.
Mamoru draws power from his own unique crystal; the golden crystal, which is the symbol of him being the planetary guardian of Earth. He has often unconsciously given Sailor Moon power and guidance through the crystal, which is located inside of him, helping her through different kinds of trouble.
As a weapon, Tuxedo Mask can use energy beams powered by the crystal (the most powerful one being an attack called 'Tuxedo la Smoking Bomber'). Tuxedo Mask also has an additional attack with his daughter-from-the-30th-century (Chibiusa) called Pink Sugar Tuxedo Attack, which is basically the same attack as he does alone, but powered up.
Mamoru also has a sixth sense regarding Usagi and he's pretty much able to sense if she's in trouble or fighting as Sailor Moon. It's part of why he's able to appear to wherever the Sailor Senshi are fighting to help them however he can.
